Do I need to book tickets in advance?
We recommend booking in advance, particularly for popular sessions. Tickets to individual events can be purchased through the Dunkeld Writers Festival website, subject to availability.
Can I buy tickets on the day?
Tickets will be available on the day for sessions that have not sold out. To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking ahead.
I have purchased a Festival Pass. Do I still need to book individual sessions?
If you have booked a festival pass, the tickets aligned with that pass will be automatically added to your account, you do not need to purchase them additionally. Pass information can be found on our website here.
Where can I find my tickets?
Your tickets will have been sent to the email address used when booking. We accept a digital ticket or a print version. Log into your account here to access your tickets.
Can I get a refund or exchange my ticket?
Tickets are non-refundable. If you can no longer attend, we encourage you to pass your ticket on to a friend or family member.
Where is Dunkeld Writers Festival held?
Most of our Festival events are hosted at Sterling Place: Dunkeld Community Centre. Our two Saturday afternoon events are hosted at the Mt Sturgeon Woolshed. Our Festival Dinner on Saturday night is held at the Royal Mail Hotel’s Parker Street Project.
How early should I arrive for my session?
We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before your session begins to allow time to check in and find your seat.
Is there parking available?
There is car parking (including disabled) located on the western side of Sterling Place: Dunkeld Community Centre. There is also parking available on the surrounding streets near Royal Mail Hotel and Dunkeld Community Centre. There is some parking available at Mt Sturgeon Woolshed, however we encourage you to make use of our complimentary shuttle bus that will run from Dunkeld Community Centre to Mt Sturgeon Woolshed and back.
How do I get to Mt Sturgeon Woolshed?
We offer a complimentary bus to and from this venue on the Saturday afternoon. The bus will leave from Dunkeld Community Centre at 1.45pm with one further trip at 2pm, if required. The bus will return guests to the Community Centre at the conclusion of the events on Saturday afternoon.
Can I walk between festival venues?
Sterling Place: Dunkeld Community Centre is located 550 metres (a 6-8 minute walk) from the Royal Mail Hotel. Mt Sturgeon Woolshed is a five-minute drive out of the Dunkeld town.
Will books be available to purchase?
Yes. A selection of books by participating festival authors will be available to purchase throughout the weekend. Our Festival Bookseller is Bellcourt Books. They will have a pop-up bookshops set up at each of our venues.
Will authors be signing books?
Authors will sign books immediately after their sessions, our session chairs will indicate where they will be situated.
Is food and drink available?
Dunkeld has some wonderful food and drink options, and we encourage you to support our local businesses throughout the festival weekend:

Parker Street Project (please note PSP will be closed to the public on 29 August evening for the festival dinner, to attend this event you will require a Gold Pass).
What should I wear?
Dunkeld can be chilly in August, so we recommend dressing warmly and keeping an eye on the weather forecast. Some festival events are held in rural venues, so comfortable footwear and warm layers are a good idea.

There are so many things to see and do in the Southern Grampians regions!
