2026 Schools Program
The Dunkeld Writers Festival Schools Program aims to inspire a love of reading, writing and storytelling in young people across our region by connecting students with some of Australia’s most celebrated authors and illustrators. Through engaging talks and creative workshops, the program encourages imagination, curiosity and a lasting connection to books and ideas.
This year we are excited to be hosting Simone Kain and Caz Goodwin for talks with local schools in the Southern Grampians region. Past participating authors in our Schools Program include Leigh Hobbs (2024) and Kate Mildenhall (2025).
Register for our Free Kindergarten Event with Simone Kain on August 28
Simone Kain is the creator, founder and author of the award-winning “George the Farmer” series, a much-loved children’s brand inspiring young readers to discover where their food and fibre come from through fun, engaging stories.
Come along and meet Simone for an hour of fun on August 28 at Dunkeld Consolidated School. This FREE event is for children aged 3-5 years old.
When: Friday 28 August, 2pm-3pm
Where: Dunkeld Consolidated School
What: Spend an hour with the Simone Kain, author of the George the Farmer series. This is a FREE event, but bookings are essential!
